UPDATES TO TA RANK CE POLICY (as of 6/5/25):

In the event any submitted CEUs do not meet CABAS CE criteria, the rank holder will be given 60 days to replace the unaccepted content with additional content that meets CABAS CE criteria.

Requesting an Extension
If a rank holder is aware that they are not going to submit their CEU’s by the recertification deadline, they may request an extension. The extension must be requested prior to the deadline. An extension is valid for 60 days past the deadline. A late fee of $25 will be due in this case. The rank holder will then be required to submit their completed CEU’s within the 60-day timeframe. The rank holder will be considered to have active status throughout the 60-day grace period. Email CABASCEU@gmail.com to request an extension.

Lapsed Rank Status
If a rank holder misses the submission deadline to maintain active rank status without submitting a request for extension prior to the deadline, their rank status is considered lapsed. These individuals may submit a request for reinstatement to the CE Committee. A late fee of $100 will be due in this case. Reinstatements will be considered on a case by case basis.  Email CABASCEU@gmail.com regarding lapses.

Previous Updates: For individuals who hold a TA rank, CE requirements may be met by demonstrating completion of a minimum of 4 modules toward the next rank (TA 2 for TA 1 rank holders or Teacher 1 for TA 2 rank holders). Evidence of continued progress may be presented by submitting a letter on your organization’s letterhead (if applicable) from the supervisor/mentor using the form linked here.

REMINDER: The CABAS® Teaching Assistant Rank was officially retired on December 31, 2024.  Any TA rank submitted after 12/25/25 must be the current TA 1 or TA 2 rank.  If a candidate began the original TA rank prior to the deadline but did not complete it, signatures may be transferred to the new rank.  Please note that some material from the original TA rank may appear in the TA 2 rank.  Substitutions may be made by appropriately ranked mentors.  Any questions or preapprovals for substituted rank components should be submitted to the CABAS Professional and Organizational Standards Committee at cabasranks@gmail.com.
